Kalachakra_1Dig if you will a town with a population of 30,000 people, located in the northern part of India, finding itself hosting a 10-day Buddhist teaching given by His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama of Tibet, attended by nearly 300,000 people. From January 1 to January10, 2012, the town of Bodh Gaya, Bihar (believed to be the place where Buddha Sakyamuni reached enlightenment), is hosting a Kalchakra initiation attended by followers of the Tibetan Buddhist tradition from the world over.

Dig, if you will, AirJadi team members overcoming natural and human-made challenges, and providing a steady wireless link enabling scores of others to follow those teachings live through six channels with narration in EnglishChineseRussian and of course the original Tibetan (also here).

The dust, the crowds, the lack of water, the recurring power cuts – all of this does little to dampen the spirit of those attending the teaching. We at AirJaldi, however, were acutely aware of the challenges we will face when approached by members of the organizing body with a request to provide broadband connectivity for relaying the event all over the world.

One of the reasons our decision to engage in this project was the proximity of the sight to our Ranchi network, another was the fact that many of our users in Bodh Gaya are also clients of our Kangra Valley Network. Yet another reason relates to our desire to extend the range and scope of the services we give. In addition, we hope that the teachings will help those who attend and listen to them to lead a more beneficial lives for others and themselves.

As indicated earleir, you can follow the teachings on the official site of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, or on the Tibet TV sight. Our team will be there throughout the event. We will keep you updated.
